Dear Mr. Gates,
It is with great pleasure to submit my application for the Graduate Nurse position advertised on [URL] at [New York Hospital]. While pursuing my MS in nursing at the New York University, I gained clinical work experience at [Ambulatory Surgery Center X]. In this cover letter, I will elaborate on my qualifications to work in a fast-paced environment and motivation for this growth oriented position.
To shortly introduce myself, my name is [Dylan Westwood] and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Nursing & Health with an expected completion date of August 2024. I regularly read through articles from the [New York Nurses Association Journal] on solutions to healthcare disparities and the role of nurses in healthcare quality. I noticed [NYH]’s excellence in patient care, on-the-job training and professional development. The prospect of working in an environment that is both personally and professionally fulfilling happens to be exactly what I search for in my career path.
As a third-year student, I participated in a summer externship to perform medical procedures in a real-world clinical setting. I improved my interpersonal skills by working alongside qualified medical specialists, and collected data to assist a preceptor in creating a plan of care. During my internship at [ASCX], I was responsible for providing patient care on a surgery unit with 50 surgical beds and 7:1 patient to nurse ratio. In these months, I established a track record for efficiency by completing assigned tasks 15% ahead of schedule with 85%+ accuracy as judged by the clinical preceptor. I received recognition for these results (see references).
While my attached resume will give you an outline of my abilities, a personal interview allows me to explain how I can contribute to daily operations at [NYH]. I am excited about the prospect to discuss my candidacy. You can reach me at [Phone number] if you need additional information.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
Dylan Westwood
