Dear Ms. Robertson,
As a passionate linguist, I was pleased to find the open Translator position on [URL] under section [‘Vacancies’]. I hold a master’s degree in Spanish and recognize 25 indigenous languages in Mexico. My ethnic background and translating experience can surely add value to [Company XYZ]. Therefore, I kindly ask you to consider this job application for the translator position at your office in
San Mateo, CA.
To shortly introduce myself, my name is [Pedro Rodriguez] and I grew up in Mexico. With a GPA of 3.96, I was able to enter [University] in California and develop language proficiency in both Spanish and English. When reviewing the job description, I was excited to find [Company XYZ]’s international client network and your participation in translation conferences. The prospect of working in such a vibrant and growth-oriented environment is what makes me want to apply.
During my time at university, I worked as an intern at the United Nations (UN) to translate over 200 legal documents and political speeches from English to Spanish and vice versa. I received recognition from my supervisors for accurate and efficient translation (see references). In my current role as a freelance transcriptionist, I translate audio and documents from one language to another. In 2022, I had more than 20 overseas Spanish translation projects for the US army and assisted with interpretation of indigenous languages.
As of next month, I will be available for part-time employment (30-hour work week). I welcome the opportunity to discuss my candidacy and demonstrate my familiarity with Spanish, Latin and indigenous languages. I would like to draw your attention to my enclosed documents. If I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at [Phone number]. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
Pedro Rodriguez
